Choosing the right bridge bearing or expansion joint is critical to the safety and longevity of any structure. Our technical team works closely with consultants, contractors, and project engineers to recommend the most suitable products for each project, and conducts technical seminars and workshops to help engineers understand product specifications, design considerations, and selection best practices.
Bridge Bearings
Selection is based on load capacity, rotation and translation requirements, seismic considerations, and site-specific parameters, in line with IRC:83 — Standard Specifications and Code of Practice for Road Bridges, Section IX: Bearings:
Bridge Expansion Joints
Joint selection is governed by IRC:SP:69-2011 — Guidelines and Specifications for Expansion Joints, which classifies joints by their movement capacity:
No joint is required for movement below 6 mm, per Cl. 5.4 of the code.
Our engineers assess the deck's design movement (longitudinal translation, rotation, and transverse movement), structure type, and site conditions against these codes to recommend the correct bearing or joint type for each project.
